BACKGROUND
WHERE DO THE CONTAMINANTS COME FROM
Many residents have had encounters with dump trucks that haul full loads of contaminated soil that is being brokered by our own members who are paid to accept the soil.
If you are paid for loads of soil, in all likelihood the load is contaminated, coming from off the reserve from construction sites in southern Ontario.
Another source of soil contamination is the numerous tobacco fields on the territory whose practice it is to spray their yield with pesticides that are extremely dangerous to human health. Pesticides are extremely regulated because of the environmental dangers it poses.
Industry on the territory. Currently, there are no environmental guidelines for industry on the territory. No environmental reports have been provided or posted.
